Atlanta, Ga. (August 29, 2014) – IMG, through its licensing affiliate Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), announced today that The University of Alabama has won the third annual College Colors Day Spirit Cup competition and earned a $10,000 donation towards the University’s general scholarship fund.
The Spirit Cup, a fan contest dedicated to celebrating the passion and excitement surrounding the kickoff of the college football season, is a points-based rivalry competition that utilizes social media platforms to crown its champion.
Behind a bevy of social media posts touting their love for the Crimson Tide, the Alabama fan base tallied more points than any other institution in the competition (81,006 points) to capture the title.
“Congratulations to The University of Alabama and their rabid fan base on winning the College Colors Day Spirit Cup competition,” said Catherine Gammon, CLC’s senior vice president for brand development. “We’d also like to thank all the college fans nationwide that supported their favorite school in the contest. It was a tremendous competition that showcased the unmatched pride and passion that truly embodies the college fan base.”

AAC: East Carolina
Atlantic 10: George Mason
Big Ten: Penn State
Big 12: Kansas
Big East: Providence
Big Sky: Northern Arizona
Conference USA: Florida Atlantic
Mountain West: Boise State
Sun Belt: Texas State
* Athletic conferences with fewer than four schools participating in the Spirit Cup are represented in the Other category.
In addition to the Spirit Cup competition a winner was also drawn in the College Football Playoff (CFP) sweepstakes that was hosted on CollegeColorsDay.com. The winner, who will receive an all-expenses paid trip for two to the CFP National Championship Game, will be announced publicly upon completion of official notification.
