IMG College Licensing, TCU Announce Fan Sweepstakes, Auction for Limited-Edition Caps
FT. WORTH, TX (October 2, 2017) – TCU Athletics, working in conjunction with IMG College Licensing and New Era Cap, today announced the release of limited-edition caps made from game-worn baseball jerseys that will only be available to fans through a special auction and promotional sweepstakes.
IMG College brought the idea to TCU as a way to highlight the University’s long-standing success in baseball through a special product program that is a first for the college market. Each of the 22 caps produced by New Era is made almost entirely from components of the game-worn uniforms, which were supplied by TCU. The logos, piping and uniform decoration were all incorporated into the caps in various ways.
“Coming off our fourth consecutive College World Series appearance, we were looking for a way to honor that streak while providing something truly unique for our fans,” said Drew Martin, Associate Athletics Director for Marketing and Licensing. “With only a handful of caps available for distribution, they are an immediate collectors’ items.”
Beginning today, TCU Athletics is launching the #ToadToThePast sweepstakes. By sharing a favorite TCU baseball memory on Twitter or Instagram using #ToadToThePast and @TCU_Athletics, fans can enter to win one of the exclusive caps. Fans will also be able to bid on a limited number of caps through the TCU Athletics auction site from October 9 – 16. TCU will work with IMG College Licensing to execute the promotions.
“Our goal is to create innovative product and marketing programs that help our partner institutions like TCU connect with their fans,” said Nicole Armentrout, IMG College Licensing’s VP of Marketing. “TCU’s incredible run in baseball, its passionate fan base, and the Athletics Department’s proactive and dynamic licensing team made this a win for all involved.”
In addition to the sweepstakes and auctions, caps are also being shared with five former TCU baseball players. These players, all currently playing professional baseball, will each give away one cap to a lucky fan through their respective social media sites. The participating players and the professional baseball teams that drafted them include pitcher Brian Howard (Oakland A’s), catcher Evan Skoug (Chicago White Sox), pitcher Riley Ferrell (Houston Astros), outfielder Austen Wade (Cleveland Indians), and pitcher Mitchell Traver (Los Angeles Dodgers).
