Big West Conference Selects COMPASS as NIL Solution for Member Institutions

IRVINE, CA and ATLANTA, GA (July 14, 2021) – The Big West Conference has partnered with CLC to implement its COMPASS platform to provide name, image, and likeness (NIL) solutions for student-athletes across its 11 member institutions. COMPASS will provide the administrative infrastructure needed to empower Big West student-athletes to maximize opportunities while ensuring compliance with the policies and guidelines currently governing NIL.

COMPASS will provide all Big West Conference student-athletes with NIL education, deal disclosure and compliance monitoring tools in one easy-to-use platform. Additionally, the reporting feature allows analysis of all NIL activity as a conference, by institution, by sport, and/or by student-athlete across a number of variables, positioning BW member institutions to comprehensively articulate NIL activities for current and prospective student-athletes.

“The COMPASS platform provides consistency in reporting for our member institutions while giving them the flexibility for school-specific policies and program integration,” said Dan Butterly, Big West Commissioner. “COMPASS also gives our member institutions a more holistic view of NIL activities and trends, which can help better position our student-athletes for success and identify areas of needed support moving forward.”

Conference institutions with different NIL rules will be able to add school-specific requirements to the COMPASS system. The COMPASS platform also allows for flexibility to adapt to NIL guidelines or laws as they evolve over time, ensuring student-athletes can stay up to date in this quickly evolving era and remain compliant in their eligibility requirements.

“We are excited to provide COMPASS to assist the Big West Conference in its NIL leadership by implementing a Conference-wide solution that supports school compliance staff while providing student-athletes with the tools to manage their NIL opportunities,” said Cory Moss, CEO of CLC. “We look forward to working with Dan Butterly, the Conference staff, and each Big West institution to help position them for success now and as NIL rules evolve moving forward.”
