CLC and Wells Fargo to Help Feeding America Member Food Banks for 2020 College Colors Day

16th Annual Fan Celebration Gives Back to College Communities through Merchandise Purchases

ATLANTA, Ga (August 17, 2020) – During this time of uncertainty in college sports and communities at large, CLC, the licensing division of Learfield IMG College, is joining forces with Wells Fargo to support local Feeding America® member food banks through merchandise purchases leading up to College Colors Day on Friday, September 4.

The 16th annual College Colors Day, which was created by CLC, is a national holiday that provides fans across the country the opportunity to showcase their unmatched passion and school spirit by showing off their pride on social media using the hashtag #CollegeColorsDay. This year, Wells Fargo is teaming up with CLC to drive awareness on the issue of hunger in America and to help communities in need. For every purchase of officially licensed merchandise via participating schools’ team stores on Fanatics from now until September 4, Wells Fargo will help provide 100 meals* to the local Feeding America member food bank in the college community.

This year’s College Colors Day theme, “United We Fan,” emphasizes the power of togetherness that shared college fandom delivers even though fans might be physically apart. While fans may be missing fall sports, the unity and pride of fans is stronger than ever.

“Even though fans may not be able to gather in person for College Colors Day this year, they will be able to join forces to positively impact local communities thanks to the partnership and incredible support of Wells Fargo for Feeding America member food banks,” said Nicole Armentrout, Vice President, Marketing at CLC. “By purchasing team gear, fans can show their school spirit and unite in helping people in need during these uncertain times.”

The Wells Fargo College Colors Day program is the direct result of efforts to activate on a sponsorship commitment made by Wells Fargo to participating institutions. In the current absence of college sports, CLC, working in tandem with its sister multimedia rights division at Learfield IMG College, is leveraging the fan support and engagement around College Colors Day to help Wells Fargo meet its goals of impacting local communities.

“Wells Fargo has a strong history of supporting the communities we serve, and we are excited to bring together the passion of college fans and the mission of Feeding America to help provide much-needed meals to college communities,” saidPamela Batalis, VP, Sponsorships & Brand Engagement, Wells Fargo Marketing.

Participating universities include Auburn, Baylor, Clemson, Florida, Minnesota, North Carolina, Stanford, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and Virginia. Fans of participating institutions are encouraged to unite in their fandom and follow their respective school’s athletic social media to see messages about the College Colors Day program and to make qualifying purchases to help provide meals to their local Feeding America member food bank.

“The United We Fan theme of this year’s College Colors Day is the perfect call to action for fans to celebrate their schools while coming together to help others,” said Andrew Kossoff, Vice President, Learfield IMG College. “We are excited to be able to continue to deliver fan engagement solutions to our partners like Wells Fargo even if college sports are paused.”

Nothing unites fans like the pride and passion they have for their college, and College Colors Day puts that passion on full display on September 4. Fans are encouraged to wear their college colors this year to celebrate the community of fans and alumni that make their schools so special.

* From 8/10/20 to 9/4/20 for every College Colors Day purchase, Wells Fargo will donate the monetary equivalent of 100 meals to Feeding America®. Wells Fargo guarantees a minimum donation of 10,000 meals (monetary equivalent of $1,000) and a maximum of 2 million meals (monetary equivalent of $200,000). $1 helps provide at least 10 meals secured by Feeding America on behalf of local member food banks.
