HOUGHTON, MI and ATLANTA, GA (December 10, 2021)Michigan Technological University, in conjunction with CLC, the University’s exclusive trademark licensing agency, have partnered with former Husky and NHL All-Star John Scott to launch an exclusive line of apparel and headwear known as the “Heart of a Husky” Collection.

Inspired by Scott’s love for the University and local community, the apparel features imagery from the Copper Country and reflects Scott’s reputation as an enforcer on the ice.

“John Scott represents the hard-working, tenacious, driven qualities of Michigan Tech students, alumni and fans, making this Heart of a Husky apparel collection a great way to display that Husky pride,” said Joel Isaacson, Michigan Tech’s senior associate athletic director. “We’re excited to deliver this specially created merchandise to our passionate fans.”

Scott played 126 games in a Michigan Tech sweater from 2002-2006, scoring seven goals and adding 12 assists. He went on to play for the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Buffalo Sabres, San Jose Sharks, Arizona Coyotes, and Montreal Canadiens. Scott played a total of 286 NHL games, earning five goals and six assists while racking up 544 penalty minutes.

Scott was named the MVP of the 2016 NHL All-Star Game where he was the captain of the Pacific Division and scored two goals to help his team win the tournament. Scott’s helmet from the All-Star game was sent to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

“I am really excited and honored to be able to partner with MTU for this collection. We worked hard to put together what I think is a unique clothing line, I hope the students and Husky fans like what we came up with,” said Scott. “Being a student at MTU isn’t easy, and it takes a special person to go to school there. The ‘Heart of a Husky’ line hopefully is an alternative to the already great Husky brand.”

“We are proud to work with our partners at Michigan Tech and John Scott to help develop the Heart of a Husky Collection as a unique product offering that combines hockey and school spirit with unique attributes of the University and the Upper Peninsula,” said Ben Emmons, vice president of brand marketing at CLC. “We look forward to continuing to build upon this amazing collection with additional licensees and products in years to come.”

The Heart of a Husky Collection will launch with apparel and headwear products from officially licensed partners Blue84/Lakeshirts, L2 Brands, and WinCraft. The Collection will be available at University Images in the John J. MacInnes Student Ice Arena at Michigan Tech.
