The University of Texas at Austin Selects CLC for Full-Service Licensing Agreement

Atlanta, GA (December 10, 2019) – The University of Texas at Austin has named CLC, the nation’s leading collegiate trademark licensing agency, its full-service licensing representative, pending final approval by The University of Texas System Board of Regents on Monday.

The Texas licensing program will receive access to CLC’s industry-leading brand management strategies, innovative consumer marketing programs and unmatched sales and market data from which Texas can analyze its program for future growth and product development.

“Our goal is to reinforce the Texas brand as one of the strongest across all sports, not just college, while at the same time providing our fans and supporters with unique brand experiences,” said Drew Martin, Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs. “Our licensed merchandise program is an extension of that goal, and this agreement with CLC will give us superior tools and resources to develop new brand opportunities.”

Through the agreement, CLC will help Texas manage the nearly 200 manufacturers that are currently approved to create merchandise using the famous Longhorn brand and other University marks. Texas also will work with CLC to identify new retail opportunities to meet the needs of Longhorn fans while implementing strategies to maximize the value of the Texas brand.

“The University of Texas has a unique brand that has reach well beyond its traditional fan base,” said Cory Moss, CLC’s Executive Vice President and Managing Director. “Drew and his team have a great vision for connecting fans across the globe to the Texas brand, and we are excited to work the University to add our expertise and resources to their vision.”

This new agreement with CLC will deliver a licensing, marketing and brand protection program to Texas through a centralized, comprehensive approach.

“The University of Texas is proud to say, ‘what starts here changes the world,’ and we strive to carry that quest for innovation through everything we do in Athletics, including our licensed merchandise program,” added Chris Del Conte, Vice President and Director of Athletics. “We look forward to working with CLC to help us take our licensing program to new heights.”

The agreement will be effective immediately upon Board approval with a current term until 2032.
