University of Hawai’i at Mānoa Athletics Enters New Era of Brand Licensing with CLC Partnership

HONOLULU, Hawai’i and ATLANTA, Ga – The University of Hawai’i at Mānoa Athletics Department and CLC, thenation’s leading collegiate trademark licensing agency, have entered into an agreement for trademark licensing services that will usher in a new, strategic approach to managing and promoting the 10 campus University of Hawai‘i System and Rainbow Warriors brands for officially licensed merchandise.

The new partnership will give Hawai’i access to CLC’s proprietary systems and data, marketing and product development expertise, and industry relationships to gain insight into consumer trends to better identify opportunities and strategies to elevate the Hawai’i brand in the marketplace.

“We are excited to leverage CLC’s customized approach to growing our licensing program and connecting with our passionate fans through unique products and brand storytelling,” said Craig Angelos, director of athletics at Hawai’i. “After a competitive review of service providers in the space, returning to a partnership with CLC and their suite of services was the best choice for us as we seek to expand the reach of our brand to new fans and new markets.”

Officially licensed Hawai’i branded merchandise is currently produced by 113 licensees.

“We are honored to be able to work collaboratively with Craig Angelos and his team at Hawai’i to develop new merchandise and marketing initiatives that promote and respect the unique aspects of the university’s culture and heritage while maximizing opportunities for growing demand and retail distribution,” said John Greeley, senior vice president of partnerships at CLC. “Our partnership is off to a great start with tremendous engagement with key stakeholders throughout the university as we work to develop a strategic plan that explores new brand partners, expanded distribution, marketing platforms, and integrated partnerships involving corporate sponsors.”

CLC is a division of Learfield, a diversified and influential media and technology company powering college athletics.
