University of Nevada Athletics Partners with Brothers Barbecue to Launch Exclusive Howlin’ Bold and Spicy BBQ Sauce

Reno, Nev. (August 4, 2023) – The University of Nevada Athletics Department has partnered with locally-owned Brothers Barbecue to introduce Howlin’ Bold and Spice BBQ Sauce with support from CLC, the university’s exclusive trademark licensing company.

Howlin’ Bold and Spicy will launch Friday, August 4, during an event at Brothers Barbecue, MidTown district of Reno, Nev. The sauce will be available to purchase in-restaurant, at Silver and Blue Outfitters this fall and at the 2023 Best in the West Rib Cookoff (Aug. 30 – Sept. 4), with additional retailers coming soon.

“We are excited to collaborate on Howlin’ Bold and Spicy with Brothers Barbecue as we continue to focus on partnering with local and alumni-owned businesses,” said Michael Harris, associate athletic director, Revenue Generation and Fan Engagement, University of Nevada. “Joe and Meagan, the owners of Brothers Barbecue and creators of the sauce, have a passion for the university and the Reno community making this relationship a natural fit for everyone involved.”

Brothers Barbecue opened in 2006, serving up Texas-style BBQ using family recipes handed down for generations.

“Work hard, grind it out, and never give up! That’s what we do at Brothers Barbecue and that’s what the student athletes at the University of Nevada do every season,” said Joe and Meagan Orduna, owners of Brothers Barbecue. “This is a natural partnership between our family restaurant and the University of Nevada Athletic department. Our new Howlin’ Bold n Spicy championship-caliber barbecue sauce is the perfect balance between bold, sweet and smoky flavors, with a little heat to be a game-changer at every Wolf Pack tailgate party, backyard cookout, and family gathering. We couldn’t be prouder to have our family business partnered with the team at Nevada Athletics, and to continually feed the student athletes and our community.”
